This space holds a special place in my heart, inspired by a wood carving at my grandpa’s house. It was “whittled” by his father—a scene of two “friendlies” side by side during WWII. It was so alien to me. I had never met my great grandfather… but apparently he was an artist!!! I would look at it for hours and wonder about this art & this stranger.

What kind of artist was he? What kind of life did he have, in some other world I would never know?
